The Camp Cap is like a best buddy—fun, dependable, and always ready for mischief. Since it folds up nicely, we like to tuck it into our back pocket while we plan our next adventure.
Fabric note: Military fabric engineers developed ripstop fabrics during WWII, using double warp and weft threads woven into a crosshatch pattern which is resistant to tearing and ripping. This crosshatch construction makes the fabric feel heavier, but this particular ripstop is only 6.5 oz, making it lightweight while still durable.

We couldn't be happier with the results and think that this is one of our best shirts yet. It's hard to imagine the present-day North Face brand marketing of an item with so much sincerity and genuine interest in conveying every single little last detail. We love a good pullover, and the Lumberjack has been our happy winter go-to for the last couple of years. With this revision for the FW24 Spot, we added a zipper on the side (an anorak detail that we love to Frankenstein onto shirts occasionally) and lengthened the front button placket—all of which makes the shirt even easier to put on and take off.
This is a shirt that feels rugged and outdoorsy but also has a chunky 1990’s vibe and a casually eye-catching silhouette.

In 2017, Battenwear opened a satellite office in Topanga Canyon, California, where it's nice and sunny during the day but deeply chilly in the mornings and evenings. When we're working in Topanga, we like to start the morning heading down out of the mountains to the beach for a surf session . . . and end the days heading higher up into the mountains on a hike. The Five Pocket Canyon Shirt was born out of a need for a great-looking, warm top layer to throw over a L/S Pocket tee or Reach-Up Sweatshirt. The pockets are handy, the shape is comfortable, and the shirt looks so great that it transitions well into the night at one of the Canyon's great cafes and restaurants.

In the 1990's, during the Amekaji (American Casual) craze in Japan, every smartly dressed boy dreamt of owning a pair of Red Wing boots. Shinya got his hands on these, and so began a collecting obsession that has meant we've had to find a separate room for Shinya's shoes in every place where we've lived.

We wanted to make an outfit to throw on after a swim and then hang out in for the rest of the day. So, we made our Lounge series, but now we wear them wherever we go, regardless of whether a pool is involved. 
Fabric Note: Brand-new and custom milled in Japan for Battenwear, this terry cloth has a rich, plush texture and a double-sided nap (meaning that the towel-like texture is on the inside and outside of the fabric) It's slightly thicker than the terry we have used in the past for Beach Tees and Lounge items, but has a lighter weight feeling due to the airiness of the weave. It's absolutely perfect for hot days, and we can't wait to spend all summer in it.

First released in 2014, the Scout Anorak became a standard bearer for Battenwear, exemplifying our mission to make functional outdoor and sports gear that also happens to look great for everyday city wear.
Handy details include the multiple storage pockets on front and the extra deep, double zip on the sides for ease getting in and out of the anorak (also for ventilation). Please keep in mind that this item was built to be roomy so that it can be a top layer.

At Battenwear’s design studio in Topanga Canyon, CA, winter afternoons are mostly nice and sunny but the mornings and evenings are deeply chilly. The Canyon Shirt Jacket was designed to wear on our morning hiking and surfing trips through Topanga and our evenings late in the studio. Roomy enough to layer over a sweatshirt or fleece, the Canyon has 5 pockets, which gives it a chore jacket kind of vibe, and a relaxed fit that makes it well suited for any number of outdoor or city destinations.
The Canyon Shirt Jacket is an updated version of our longstanding Five Pocket Canyon Shirt, with an overhaul in construction to make it roomier and more accommodating of under-layers. We also updated the collar and sleeves for a more contemporary feel.

Battenwear’s Pocket Rugby Shirts are milled and sewn at an official rugby factory with reinforced armpit gusset and rubber buttons. We chose to add the chest pocket, which of course would never be on an official rugby shirt, as a nod to the widespread utilitarian nature of rugby shirts.
